History Of The Company
Watson Diesel was founded in January 2015 by Kyle Watson. He always loved wrenching on the family farm growing up, so after graduating from high school in 2007, he attended WyoTech in Pennsylvania to become a Certified Diesel Technician. After graduating from college, he took a job with Scheid Diesel, in Indiana, where he worked as a technician from 2008 to 2012. He then moved home to southern Michigan to be closer to his family and the farm. He was hired as a shop manager and lead technician for Lowe Construction, an excavation company, in 2012. For the next three years he continued to do installs and diesel truck repair on the side.
By January 2015, the side work became overwhelming and Kyle knew he needed help. His father, came on board to help run Watson Diesel, and his younger brother, who was fresh out of high school, came on as a technician. His father had over 40 years of experience working for various companies on agricultural equipment, and brother had been working on farm machinery since he was 14. They worked all day while Kyle was at his full time job with Lowe. After Kyle finished his work day at Lowe, he would help at the shop.
Kyle didn’t want to have a shop that had one focus or specialized in one type of diesel engine. His main goal was to create one that specializes in everything diesel, no matter the size of the engine or what kind of equipment it was in. By May 2015, they were overwhelmed with work and hired a third technician while Kyle continued working at Lowe.
By November 2015, they were in need of more bays and more work space and moved into a 19,000 sq. ft. facility with 11 bays and a full power wash bay.
By mid-October 2017, Kyle made the decision to leave Lowe Construction. He joined his own company full time and added a fourth technician.
"As Watson Diesel moves forward, Kyle’s goal is to continue down the path toward growth and expansion."
